Advocacy and Education Initiatives
Advocacy and Education are essential to represent and support the needs of Canadian professional dance. The Canadian Dance Assembly will be a strong and united voice for Canadian professional dance. The CDA believes the development of resources for dance will benefit and strengthen the role of Canadian professional dance in the cultural fabric of Canada. We strive, through advocacy and education, to better the conditions under which professional dance of all forms and aesthetics occurs in Canada.

Communication and Information Exchange
Communication and the exchange of information are essential to stimulate the development of dance in Canada. The Canadian Dance Assembly will serve as a communication hub for Canadian professional dance. This will be accomplished through meetings, publications, the Internet, and other means of communication. The CDA will be a resource for information to the dance community and to stakeholders of the dance community, including dance organizations, training organizations, individual artists, academics, researchers, arts service organizations, the media, government departments and agencies, funding bodies and the general public, among others.

Research and Development Initiatives
Research and development are essential to support the activities of Canadian professional dance and the Canadian Dance Assembly. The CDA will initiate and undertake research and development activities to ensure its programs and policies are supportive of professional dance in Canada, and to assist other stakeholders in Canadian professional dance in achieving similar objectives.

Professional Development Initiatives
Professional development is essential to strengthening the most valuable resource of Canadian professional dance: people. The Canadian Dance Assembly will help to determine the professional development needs of Canadian dance professionals, and will develop programs to serve these needs. This will be accomplished through consultations with the dance community and through strategic alliances with other arts organizations.
