Co-founded by Lawrence and Miriam Adams in 1986, Dance collection Danse is a national dance archive and publisher of Canadian theatrical dance history. The organization collects and preserves documents and artefacts donated by dance professionals and the general public dating back to the mid-9th century.

As Canada’s only dedicated dance book publisher, DCD has produces over 30 books to include biography/memoirs, reference, cultural history and educational resources. A semi-annual magazine, focussing on dance history research and DCD projects, is produced and mailed to interested individuals and organizations.

The archives are open to artists, students, scholars, media and the general public by appointment.

Dance Our Way Home

Dance Our Way Home (DOWH) is a women's holistic dance practice, facilitated by Erica Ross, incorporating free-style dance, relaxation and guided imagery. In its essence, DOWH is a non-verbal practice of self-discovery, mindfulness, devotion and celebration, in a beautiful expressive and creative women's community. DOWH offers programs from intro level workshops and series, all the way through to teacher training. It is a multi-level spiral journey of transformative experiences. Erica's passion is creating women-only spaces for the realization of our magnificence.

Advocating, Broadening and Continuing Dance culture through literacy.
A qualified Benesh Movement Notator, Natasha Frid has studied and performed in London, Paris and across Canada, and has participated in projects with organizations including: The National Ballet of Canada, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montreal, The Danny Grossman Dance Company, Le Conservatoire de Paris, and the School of Canadian Children's Dance Theatre. An Associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in Classical Ballet, Natasha is also a tutor of 'The Freelance Dance Teacher' module in Canada for the Royal Academy of Dance's Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies. Natasha has introduced dance repertoire, history and literacy to hundreds of students internationally, via choreography and notation.

Donna Krasnow is a Professor of Dance at York University, and head of the modern division at Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre. She publishes in dance medicine journals, created C-I Training (conditioning with imagery) and is Conference Director for the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science.

Multidisciplinary dancer and Artistic Director of Maria Osende Flamenco Company, Halifax, NS. Founder and Artistic Director of the first flamenco festival in Canada since 2006: Flamenco Festival Atlantic. Teacher, choreographer and actively performing.

Writer and editor Kaija Pepper is the author of The Dance Teacher: A Biography of Kay Armstrong and Theatrical Dance in Vancouver: 1880’s-1920’s (Dance Collection Danse Press/es). Her essays are published in Right to Dance/Dancing for Rights (Banff Centre Press 2004) and The Responsive Body: A Language of Contemporary Dance (Banff Centre Press 2002). Kaija has had a quarterly column in Dance International for over a decade, and contributes to the Globe and Mail, The Dance Current and other publications. She lectures on dance history and critical thinking, and teaches dance writing workshops. Kaija holds an MA in Liberal Studies from SFU.

Mary Jane Warner is a Professor of Dance at York University where she teaches courses in dance history, movement analysis, and dance education. She has written extensively on Canadian dance. Currently she is the local organizer for the World Dance Alliance Global Assembly which was held in Toronto in July 2006.

University School of Dance (Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre, Highland, Creative Dance, Dance for Special Needs) is housed in the College of Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan (Community Programs).
